This year at MWC Sony decided to unveil its latest offering which shares the same design language of the Xperia Z which adopted the glass design and waterproof-ness as part of its makeover, not only that but the tablet also has powerful specifications to match with its beauty, hopefully Sony don’t confuse their customers with the names since they are vaguely similar. The Tablet Z will come in storage memory sizes of 16GB and 32GB with the option of adding additional memory through the use of the Micro-SD slot.
Sony declared that the tablet was the world’s thinnest with a measurement of 6.9mm, it also weighs in at 1.1pounds which is much lighter then other tablets. The Xperia Tablet Z has a plastic rubberized finish and a glass display that is featured on the front of the device with hints of metal making up the edges and the buttons to finalize the deal. The main heart of the device is the Tablet Z which is Qualcomm’s quad-core offering of the Snapdragon S4 Pro weighing in at 1.5Ghz coupled with 2GB RAM ensuring that media hungry consumers can go about their daily business without being constrained for memory.
The Tablet Z also features a 1080p IPS display said to be of the same quality of it’s smaller cousin the Xperia Z and have a similar tone to AMOLED displays regarding their colour reproduction but without the unwanted hues that usually come along with it. An example would be Apple’s MacBook Pro Retina, although not sporting a AMOLED display, still suffers from a yellowish hue on a certain proportion of Samsung made screen panels on the 13 inch and 15 inch models as well. It may not be visible to the untrained eye,but it is still not a pleasure for those who want their products to have crystal clear clarity. The Tablet Z also includes a 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with Sony’s very own Exmor R sensor which should mean that superb pictures are to be expected, with the launch Sony is to deliver Android 4.1 in the package but promises to upgrade to 4.2 after release.
The device also includes built-in NFC for synchronization to a majority of Sony’s products including Sony’s upcoming PlayStation 4 which should rival the Wii U in terms of dual screen prowess to a certain extent. We can expect to see some communication with Sony’s “SMART TV’s” as well, seeing that it’s a upcoming trend among common manufacturers such as Samsung and LG. The release data for the device seems to be in May and you can buy this beautiful high-end device for only $499, remember this is a high-end device and you will definitely be getting the worth your paying for it.
